Many people have different views on whether technology brings positive or negative effects. In my opinion, I believe that technology influences more negative impacts to society.
On one hand, technology increases people’s efficiency. In terms of student, they need to write plenty of essays and learn complicated professional knowledge. Using artificial intelligence, they would save lots of time in their studies. In addition, AI would help them to classify difficult contents. For example, students, who are not native English speakers, use ChatGPT to revise the essays which have some grammar or vocabulary problems, also receive some ideas when they do not know how to extend the content. Thus, technology development become a significant assistance to people.
On the other hand, people also have been brought negative effects by technology. Because of common using social media, many people addict in online world. The main problems are not only shortening attention, but also resulting physical problem. For instance, a British study showed that over 50% of teenagers spend approximately 8 hours every day scrolling social media platforms including Instagram, X, TikTok and so on. Some people were diagnosed eye diseases due to overuse. Therefore, if people can’t balance the amount of time using on technological device, physical and mental health problems would become a serious consequence.
In conclusion, while technology brings many benefits and convenience, I still believe health problems should not be ignored and should be the priority consideration. If technology progress harms people’s health, it can’t seem to a positive development.
