Nowadays, the fact that people getting less physical activity has become a urgent issue, particularly among the elderly. Research has shown that a lack of exercise can lead to declining bone density and muscle loss. As people age, they are more likely to suffer from Sarcopenia, a condition where muscle mass and quality fall below average. Which cause a serious threat to overall health. This essay will discuss the negative effects of reduce physical activity and propose some practical solutions.
One of the manifest consequences of insufficient exercise is poor physical health. Without regular activities, people are more likely face chronic, such as obesity and diabetes. In addition, inactivity will worse people’s bone quality, raise the risk of fracture, the common but fatal injury for elderly.
Apart from physical health, inactivity also harms mental health. Older people may feel weak, loss mobility, and even independence. For instance, from scientist perspective, people who have regularly activities have more chemical materials which highly connect with our positive emotion such as dopamine. In contrast, people who do not stay active will lack dopamine and may feel more stressed, sleep badly, or even experience depression
There are several ways to deal with this issue. On the one hand, governments can encourage people to exercise by building more public parks, walking paths, and sports centres. On the other hand, individuals should also take small steps to improve their health. For example, they can walk short distances instead of driving, take the stairs rather than the lift, or spend 30 minutes each day doing light exercise at home.
