Undoubtedly, modern individuals often rely on both family and friends to support their basic living. While some people argue that friends are more important, others view that family plays more vital roles for individuals. From my perspective, I totally support to the statement that look upon family as more crucial than friends, and the reasons will be elaborated on the following paragraphs.
The main concept is that family forms the foundation of personal values. To be more specific, both parents and siblings can shape one’s behaviour in early life, which influences individuals’ future developments. Since infants(children) do not know everything, they can only imitate their family members’ behaviour. In the long run, personal will view those actions and concepts that they learned from their family as the common surviving skills. As a result, family would be the most essential part of human life. Based on a study conducted by National Taiwan University, over 70% of children choose the career which their parents chose and act like their family. This phenomenon is called social reproduction, as they learned it by osmosis.
Furthermore, most families provide unconditional support to their members. In other words, if someone encounters emergency circumstances, the one who always stand by them might always be their family. They will not leave you even if you are bankrupt or failure; however, this is the thing that many friends cannot do for you, as they may think that you are just a passer-by in their life. Take my cousin as an example.(,) She failed on her own business five years ago. At that time, her friends all left her because they were afraid that my cousin would borrow money from them. Nevertheless, my family raised fund to help her, and she restarted business and become success(successful) now. According to that experience, I am firmly convinced that family is more crucial than friends.
In conclusion, although friends can offer companionship and emotional support, their role cannot surpass that of family. Family shapes individuals from an early age and provides unconditional support throughout life, making it more crucial than friendships.
