In my opinion, I strongly believe that the negative effects of technology far outweigh its advantages.
On the one hand, technology can influence society (positively) in several ways. First, with the rapid development of digital tools and communication platforms, people can connect with others instantly. Without the obstacles of distances, friends and families living in different countries can maintain close relationships through video calls, messaging apps, and social media. Moreover, technological advancements have revolutionized how people make purchases. Instead of carrying cash, individuals can simply use smartphones or other digital devices to pay for food and services. For example, a recent study conducted by Harvard University has shown that 45% of American satisfy with this commercial changes because they can go without carrying a lot of belongings and cash with them, which make them feel convenient in their daily lives.(Concrete example) Therefore, it is clear that modern technology brings numerous benefits to society.
On the other hand, technology has also led to a variety of negative consequences that impact individuals and society as a whole. One major concern is the overuse of digital devices, which can lead to technology addiction and a decline in real-life social interactions. With the fact that young individuals spend excessive time on their phones and computers, (they) often neglecting face-to-face communication and developing feelings of isolation. As a result, while technology has undoubtedly improved efficiency and convenience, its overuse and unemployment rate must not be overlooked.
In conclusion, although technology help people live in the more convenient society, I believe that its negative consequences, such as social isolation and overdependence are far more damaging in the long run. Consequently, it is crucial to strike a balance between using technology and maintaining real-world interactions.
