7/23-IELTS Writing Task 2-discussion-education disparity-Jennie

As the economic rapid growth widen the education gap between students from high-income and low-income family, some people believe that educational disparity cannot be diminished, while others argue it can be narrowed through government policies and social initiative. I firmly agree with the latter statement as though socioeconomic gap will always exist; government can improve the equality of education via education reform policies. (In the essay,I will discuss both perspectives and provide my own opinion on the matter.)

One compelling reason is that educational disparity cannot be eliminated because the inequality of providing resource from different socioeconomic background. It has proven that wealthy family tend to provide children elite education in private school while poverty(poor/impoverished) students tend to lack stable family support and education resources. For instance, in United States, students from lower socioeconomic class (are) more likely to drop out of high school and have a statically lower rate to enter college compare with affluent students. As a results, socioeconomic level highly (is) associated with the accessibility to the education resource.

On the other hand, government should redistribute funds and education facilities to underprivileged area to improve the access to higher education. Studies have shown that, government’s intervention and community support play vital roles in bridging the gap between educational disparity and students’ academic performance. Finland’s comprehensive education reform, removed elite private schools and prioritized equal funding to all school, successfully reduced(reducing) the performance gap between students of different background. I strongly support the view that educational equality has never be absolute, but the well-design policies can significantly narrow the gap.

In conclusion, while students from wealthy family always have an advantage in terms of accessing education resource, targeting government policies and community involvement have proven the significant effectiveness in closing the gap.
