7/19-IELTS Writing Task 2-Reico

The topic of peer pressure has become increasingly important in today’s society, with many people holding different opinions. Some argue that peer pressure benefits teens , while others believe that peer pressure harm teenagers. In this essay, I will discuss both perspectives and provide my own opinion on the matter.

Firstly, those who support the idea that peer pressure has positive effects often argue that proper pressure can foster students development of both ability and motivation. For instance, people are often influenced by peers of the same age. Educators can encourage students to motivate each other and make progress. Many students participating in some competitions such as drawing, singing or speaking. Although competing with others might make people feel stressed and slightly anxious, it can also motivate them to improve. Additionally, if one maintains a positive mindset, observes others’ strengths, possesses strong positive competitive relationships, and stays motivated. There is an excellent opportunity to achieve great success. Another example is one of my friend who once saw another classmates made effort, it motivate her started proving herself and even desire to win. inspired her ambition and motivation. She went to library and discussed schoolwork with those classmates, and her grade had significant progress. This shows that peer pressure is more likely to motivate students to gain their achievements.

On the other hand, others believe that peer pressure has negative effects because Excessive comparison might harm students’ emotional well-being and even lead them fall into self-doubt. For example, many teenagers feel pressure if (they) do not act the same with their friends. If they do not follow their classmates and he or she fears they cannot fit in with their friends. One of my former colleague shares her story. She said that she had felt depressed and pressure during her university years. Because many classmates would show off their materials goods such Chanel leather handbag or Hermès perfume which are most students could not afford. However, she wanted to stay friend with them. She borrowed money from her parents to buy various luxury items. In fact, this made her lost sight of her values and indeed, she felt not happy. Therefore, blindly follow classmates and compare oneself with others might harm students’ confident. They might question they are lacking excellence. eventually, certain students might give up their academic because they no longer trust themselves. In addition, some teenagers are scared to present their own’s opinions due to they afried of being bullied. their communication skill and resilience were weaken over time. those weaken their path. This suggests that excessive peer pressure can leads to serious negative effects.

In conclusion, while there are valid arguments on both sides of the debate surrounding peer pressure, I believe that appropriate peer pressure are more likely to help  students perform well.

  1. It is true that people always have debates about if pressure from colleagues can lead better result or worse outcome especially in younger generation. Both these views have their own logical reasons, from my perspective, peer pressure has a positive impact on young people.

To begin with, pressure allows teenagers enhance their ability and improve their performance at school work. Since competitive allows students pay more attention on their school work and care more about their performances, therefore having appropriate pressure let students enhance their ability of bearing difficulties. For instance, when I was in high school, I needed to take a quiz every week, our teacher even showed our scores to everyone, as a result I felt I was under pressure that I had to get a perfect grade on my test, or I would feel quite embarrassed. In that case, every students in our class tend to spend most of our spare time on studying and reviewing. That’s the reason why I believe peer pressure can lead a positive impact on young people.

While some maybe argue that over pressure may let students suffer from mental problems. There is no denying that if students feel an overwhelming amount of pressure from his classmates, they may feel depressed and hopeless. However, nowadays students have various activities can join this allow them feel relax and less stressed. Take my friend for example, when we were in high school, she felt that she couldn’t catch up with our classmates so that she always felt her school life was meaningless and skipped classes, however she found she was able to have relief when enjoying in tennis, she started to deal with these pressures as well as back to school with a positive attitude.

To sum up, although over peer pressure may lead younger generations feel stressful, I still believe appropriate pressure allow students be more competitive and have better performance on their school work.
