0710-IELTS T2 education disparity-Victoria

Undoubtedly, with the further development of society, the issues in education have been becoming more and more vital and highlighted. Whereas, some people take the gap between rich and poor students as something permanent, I am holding an opposite opinion toward this statement and the reasons will be thoroughly elaborated as follows.

An array of causes may lead to why educational disparity between rich and poor students exists. Primary, children from wealthy families often benefit(are often benefited) from their background, leading to(therefore) having more resources for advanced learning and further development of profession. To put it another way, the resources received from wealthy students are difficult to replicate(be replicated) for students from a low income background. Furthermore, the unequal distribution of resources is also a crucial element for creating the gap. Take developed countries as an example, the elite schools are usually concentrated(located) in urban areas, where rural schools suffer from underfunding and lack of qualified teachers (and fund), making it challenging to bridge the gap regardless of national policies.

On the other hand, as far as I am concerned, the dedication of authorities and societies is more valid to decrease the burden of students from worse background. Firstly, the policies of the nation provide access for students with sufficient resources to improve themselves. According to the study from National University in 2020, over the past decade, by increasing 50% of the budget on educational aid for poor students, the possibility of them entering National Taiwan University has increased by more than 30%. Therefore, due to the evaluation, the policies are an essential approach for reducing educational disparity. Secondly, social initiatives offer free resources, making it possible for motivated students from poorer(impoverished) backgrounds to catch up. To be more specific, based on the resources, students lacking capital can have opportunities for professional learning, reducing the inequality not only between rich and poor students but in the different areas.

In conclusion, based on the aforementioned, I am firmly convinced that government policies and social initiatives can genuinely usher in more merits due to the fact that they provide more resources for free and encourage students from poor to engage.
