While some argue that it is more effective to learn a foreign language from a young age, others believe that starting later in life is more beneficial. This essay will discuss two sides of the view and give my point of view below.
On one hand, many parents believe that children learning(acquiring) a whole new language would learn faster than adults because of their ability of learning(to learn). For instance, according to research by educationists, children possess a remarkable ability of imitation and they are developing their ability in language during this young period. Therefore, learning at this stage can help them absorb a foreign language easily such as vocabulary and pronunciation. One of my friends, for example, attended the bilingual schools when she was in kindergarten, and this approach allowed her to speak foreign languages more fluently than others and have a current(native) speaking accent at a young age.
On the other hand, some educationists think that learning a new language at an older age can be more effective as they have complete thinking skills and logical abilities. For example, by applying their native language, it can help their brain to understand and learning more logically in a new language, and through using the skills they learn from their native language can accelerate the speed of learning efficiency.(Concrete example)
In conclusion, from my perspective, although some people recognize that learning a foreign language from an early age has more advantages than from an older age, no matter which approach we use, they all have their merits in their own way, so it depends on whether you have the determination to learn.
