Recently, some people claimed that friendship is more important than family ,while traditional Taiwan perspectives believe that family is the most valuable relationship in our lives. From my perspective, family plays a more essential role than friendship.
Family is the smallest unit that constructs our society. This term not only means that family supports our life, but also emphasizes that it is the first and most crucial teacher in helping us learn how to socialize. For instance, my family shaping my values by observing and imitating my parent’s behavior. When I experienced adolescence, even though we had a lot of arguments , whenever I felt frustrated with my life, I still received enormous emotional support from them.
Apart from emotional support , their economy support is important too. Financial support from family is also essential. It not only affects our living quality of life,, but also shapes our values and future perspectives.
For instance ,a study by’ The Reporter’ ( a well-known Taiwanese media outlet which considered the most objective media by public) showed a strong correlation between students from top universities and their family income. In other words, most students with prestigious degrees tend to come from well-off families. When researchers tried to explain this phenomenon, they found that over 90 per cent of these student’s parents worked in white-collar occupations .
Based on this study, there is no doubt that a family’s financial background can affect a child’s academic performance and broaden their horizons.
In conclusion , family plays the most crucial role in everyone’s life. We grew up with the support and wisdom, just like plants absorb sunlight and water to thrive. Without them our live would become limited and hindered .
