8/1-IELTS Writing Task 2-Kay

Over the past few years, some people believe that learning a different language at an early age has more benefits, while others believe that it is better to learn a foreign language later in life. In my opinion, I support the former view because early childhood education makes learning language less stressful and easier.(In this essay, I will discuss both perspectives and provide my own opinion on the matter.)

To begin with, learning a different language in early childhood has many advantages because they have more time to get used to a language and it is easier to create a bilingual language environment. For example, some parents persist in communicating English with their children at home, making learning English a normal thing for children. Moreover, young children usually spend most of their time at home with their family, and therefore the time of English learning is very long and lasting. (Personal example) Furthermore, a bilingual environment makes children’s brains more active, which can accelerate their learning speed.(Personal example) Thus, all I mentioned above are the reasons why I agree with early language learning.

Secondly, there is no doubt that learning foreign language later in life has benefits as well, although some people see foreign languages as a tool for traveling, study overseas or interest. Therefore, they can learn it when they need it, otherwise, this skill is not indispensable in life. In addition, learning a language is significantly costly in most educational sectors. Unlike children, who often rely on parental or institutional support, adults who invest their own money in language courses are more likely to take learning seriously. As a result, some people may prefer to learn a foreign language later based on practical needs.

In conclusion, both perspectives offer valid points. I am more convinced that early foreign language learning is a more effective and lasting approach to language acquisition.
