7/31Discussion- language acquisitionn nathan

The topic of when to start learning a foreign language has become increasingly important in today’s society, with many people holding different opinions. Some argue that learning a foreign language at an early age is more effective, while others believe that it is better to start later in life. In this essay, I will discuss both perspectives and provide my own opinion on the matter.

Firstly, those who support the idea that young children should learn languages often argue that children can learn faster and more naturally. For instance, I saw a news report about a child who moved abroad and learned the new language just by playing with other kids. This shows that young learners can pick up words and grammar without much pressure, making the process smoother and more fun.

On the other hand, others believe that it is better to learn a language when people are older because adults can study with clear goals and understand grammar rules more deeply. For example, many adults take language classes for work or travel. They often take learning more seriously, which helps them stay motivated. This suggests that maturity and purpose can also lead to success.

In conclusion, while there are valid arguments on both sides of the debate surrounding the best age to learn a foreign language, I believe that starting young is more effective. Children have better memory, less fear of mistakes, and more time to learn, which gives them a great advantage in language learning.
