In recent years, whether family is essential in a person’s life over friends has become a widely discussed issue. Although some argue that friends are equally crucial for an individual’s development, I believe that family affects one’s life in terms of value, skills, and financial support, and therefore should be given greater importance to an individual’s life and I will discuss this in the further essay.

On the one hand, family plays a fundamental role in shaping individuals’ values, skills, and future opportunities. Unlike friendship, which mostly connects with emotions and the same interests, allowing(family allows) people to construct a more pressure-free(less stressful) relationship. For instance, most parents believe that they have an obligation to teach their children daily matters, some adequate etiquettes, and basic social skills, helping children to face and tackle their first social environment, which is school. So(Therefore), some parents reckon that school selection is a significant decision to make for their children as well, because some parents would like to choose a school that matches their educational philosophy and offer children an appropriate education.

Moreover, family also generally provides financial support and career advice more than friends. The family can take care of life’s expenditure or educational fees for children, even if children are in the stage of working, and thereby some individuals appreciate the achievement from their parents’ work experiences. For example, in modern society, some friends of mine are confused about their future career path because it is not as easy as the past to earn enough income to support their daily expenditure, although they have strong educational backgrounds. So(Therefore), the majority of them start to work as their parents’ assistant in family business, absorbing their parents’ working and communication skills. After their parents training, they can successfully find well-paid jobs in other companies independently.

In conclusion, while friends offer emotional values and share familiar interests, I still believe that family influences more a person’s perspectives and give plentiful resources in the long run.
