The table gives information about the proportion of individuals using five different social media platforms in three age groups in 2022. Overall, it is clear that Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter showed a downward trend with age, especially TikTok had the highest proportion of users in age 18-24 years. In contrast, the proportion of Linkedin grew with age, which became the most popular platform in the oldest group.

Looking in more detail, in age 18-24 years group, TikTok and Instagram attracted the youngest group the most, accounting for 90% and 85%.  Their popularity declined with age, TikTok dropped to 60% in age 25-34 years group in comparison with Instagram, declining to 70%. The oldest group, which ages 35-44 years old had only 35% of users in TikTok and 50% in Instagram. Similarly, Twitter showed a downward trend with age, from the youngest group with 40 % to the oldest with just 25%.

By contrast, Linkedin was the least popular platform in the youngest group with 20% of users, however, following that, the proportion grew gradually with age, there was a slight increase in the middle age group with 35%, compared to the oldest with 45%, which was the highest rate. In addition, Facebook showed a stable trend across all ages, in the youngest, standing at 60%, followed by the middle age group with 65% and the oldest had 55% of users.

  1. The line graph illustrates the number of participants engaging in five different activities at a social centre in Melbourne, Australia, between 2000 and 2020.

    Overall, the film club consistently remained the most popular activity throughout the period, while participation in amateur dramatics steadily declined. Notably, table tennis experienced significant growth.In 2000, the film club attracted the highest number of participants at approximately 65, and this figure remained relatively stable, slightly rising to around 67 by 2020. In contrast, amateur dramatics started at 35 participants but saw a continuous drop, reaching zero by the end of the period.

    Table tennis saw a remarkable increase from 15 participants in 2000 to roughly 52 in 2020, surpassing martial arts in 2015. Martial arts fluctuated between 30 and 40 participants, peaking around 38 in 2010 before a slight decline to approximately 33 in 2020. Meanwhile, musical performances showed moderate growth from zero in 2000 to around 17 participants by 2020, overtaking amateur dramatics after 2010.

    In summary, while the film club remained dominant, table tennis gained substantial popularity, and amateur dramatics lost participants completely.
