The bar chart illustrates the percentage of people in three different age groups who used five social media platforms in 2022.

Overall, younger people tended to use Instagram and TikTok the most, and(while) older age groups preferred LinkedIn and Facebook. To begin with, Instagram was the most popular among 18–24 year olds, with 85% of them using it, compared to (its figure of) 70% in the 25–34 age group and 50% in the 35–44 group. Similarly, TikTok had more usage among the youngest group at 90% but  its usage dropped to 60% and then 35% in the older groups.

On the other hand, Facebook usage was relatively stable, with around 60–65% of users in two younger groups , and only slightly lower among 35–44 year olds at 55%. Twitter had the lower usage rates overall, with just 40% in the youngest group, declining to 35% and 25% in the two older groups. However , LinkedIn showed an opposite trend, with 20% people of 18–24 year olds used it , but rising steadily to 35% and then 45% among the oldest group. In summary, social media usage  differed by age group and platform.

Facebook followed closely at 55%, while Instagram and TikTok saw significant drops, with 50% and 35% usage, respectively. Twitter remained the least used platform at only 25%.

    In summary, social media preferences varied significantly across age groups, with younger users favoring TikTok and Instagram, while older users leaned towards LinkedIn and Facebook.
