7/1- IELTS Writing Task 3-Aurora

Peer pressure is an important issue on our society. Some people believe that peer pressure has positive effects on young people, while others argue that it has more negative consequences. This essay will discuss the both view of peer pressure and give my own opinion.

On the positive side, peer pressure can motivate young people to reach their achievements through(by) inspiring their mind. If young people see the peers get great awards of the professional field or be admitted to good universities, they will be more hard(be likely to work harder) to improve their own skills and knowledges, which can become a circle(cycle) of healthy competition. For instance, when I was a senior high student in a top girls high school in Taichung, many of students received the offer from top universities in Taiwan or abroad. As a result, I became really hard to study(started to spare no effort in studying) and hope I could acheive(achieve) the success someday like them. What’s more, I usually asked them some difficult questions after the class, and they would answer me generously. (Outcome)

However, peer pressure may lead to negative consequences when it comes to young people are too jealous of their peers to do something bad, which can destroy their lives.(therefore destroying their lives) Most of them(adolescents) are impacted by only seeing the highlight reel or the perfect image from their friends on social media, which make them feel stressful. If these young people lack the support and education of their family, they will loss on the right ways and make wrong decisions. For example, one of my friends was caught for extortion by the police officer when I was young because he urged to become rich. He wanted to take a trip abroad like his peers but he use wrong way and his father didn’t educate him.

In the conclusion, although peer pressure has positive and negative effects, I think young people need to build the confidence and self-esteem. In that case, they can make right decisions, get the achievement and are not easily impacted by peer pressure.
