Nowadays, the influence of social media has became pervasive, with social media influencers play(playing) an important role in shaping the perceptions and behaviors of young people. While some people believe the social media influencers have a positive impact on society.(,) Others think they have a negative effect. This essay will discuss the both impact of the social media influencers, but overall, have more negative impact on society.

On the positive side, the social media influencers inspire and motivate people through sharing their personal stories or entrepreneurship. For instant(instance), some influencers increase(raise) the public awareness of specific issues including mental health, environment protection or body positivity. They will reach a lot of audiences and use their platforms to educate people. (Concrete example)

However, the negative effect is more significant. Many influencers promote unrealistic life style and beauty standards.(However, the negative effect is more significant when it comes to the fact that those high-profile people promote unrealistic life style and beauty standards.) Algorithms often push these kinds of posts, leading to young people copycat them without critical thinking. For example, many influencers purchase luxury items and flaunt them on social media, encouraging young people to spend irresponsibly and live beyond their means.

In conclusion, although social media influencers have a positive impact, they have a more significant negative impact on society, especially on young individuals. There remains concern that followers may adopt distorted values shaped by the influencers’ content. As a result, it’s essential that we excise a critical thinking and consume social media contents.
