A growing number of people argue that peer pressure has positive effects on the younger generation, while others debate that it has more negative outcomes. In this essay, both perspectives and opinions will be discussed.
On the one hand, the advantage of peer pressure can motivate each other. Through competitions and exams, they can learn and teach together by discussing or debating questions. From my study experiences, my classmates and I always study and assist each other, anytime when anyone gets confused with questions, peers are willing to explain the problems, and the atmosphere is considerably friendly and lovely. We believe that only if people study and work together, we can gain a good score. It is unnecessary to hide the study tips and tricks in order to be afraid of others exceeding us.
On the other hand, the disadvantage of peer pressure can lead to mental issues. If there is excessive peer stress, young people may treat their peers into opponents. Therefore, they always have that feeling to fight with their peers in their deep down, which may result in an unbalanced mindset; meanwhile, the stress also leads to a great impact on themselves because of high self-esteem. This circumstance may become a vicious cycle. In some Asian countries, peer pressure is a significant problem, as most students urgently pursue better schools, the competitive atmosphere surrounding schools is extremely heavy.
In conclusion, although peer pressure can motivate each other, it may lead to some young individuals suffering from mental issues. Consequently, it is vital to find a balance between these two circumstances, and we can create a healthier society.
