The chart illustrates the top five coffee-exporting nations, namely Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Ethiopia and Indonesia, and the amount of coffee they exported in 2018 and 2023.

It is clear that the amount of coffee exported from all countries increased from 2018 to 2023. Brazil remained the largest exporter in both years, while Indonesia was consistently the smallest exporter in 2023.

In 2018, Brazil exported 2.5 million kg of coffee, exceeding significantly from all countries.Vietnam was at the second rank with 1.8 million kg, followed closely by Columbia, at 1.2 million kg. Yet, both Ethiopia and Indonesia exported small quantities of coffee, at 0.8 million kg and 0.6 million kg, respectively.

In 2023, the amount of coffee from Brazil grew to 3.0 million kg, maintaining the first rank. Vietnam saw a significant increase to 2.2 million kg, while Colombia experienced a slight increase to 1.2 million kg. Ethiopia’s export climbed to 1.2 million kg, narrowing the gap of Columbia. In contrast, Indonesia showed a moderate increase to 0.7 million kg.


Overall, although the amount of coffee across all countries grew in 2023. Brazil and Vietnam dominated the quantities of coffee, Indonesia remained the smallest contribution.

Coffee exports in Colombia increased from 1.2 million kilograms to 1.5 million kilograms, while Ethiopia’s exports rose from 0.8 million kilograms to 1.2 million kilograms during the same period. By contrast, Indonesia had the smallest volume of exports in both years, increasing only slightly from 0.6 million kilograms in 2018 to 0.7 million kilograms in 2023.

    In summary, Brazil and Vietnam continued to dominate global coffee exports, while Ethiopia experienced the most significant relative growth among the smaller exporters.
