0707-IELTS Writing T2 peer pressure- Victoria

Undoubtedly, with the further development of society, the approaches of education have been becoming more and more efficient and valid. Whereas, some people view the action to encourage young people to compete with each other as something genuinely usher in more merit. As for my perspective, I am holding an opposite opinion toward this statement and the reasons will be elaborated thoroughly as follows.

An array of reasons may lead to why peer pressure is a useful method during teaching. Firstly, it provides a practical motivation for the youth to engage in the study or work, promoting them to take more effort on work or pursue the same goal with his or her mates. That is, inspired by peer pressure, adolescents can exert the same value on the target, helping to create(creating) cohesiveness to the group. Moreover, to compete with each other during school or job provide an access(opportunity) to supervise each other. Take myself as an example., During my college time, I usually lacked efficiency when I studied by myself. However, with my friend accompanying or studying with me, the pressure of someone supervising or competitiving me would obviously increase my productivity.

On the other hand, as far as I am concerned, pressure from peers(peer pressure) generates more harmful effects. Primarily, an overly competitive environment may let young people tend to ignore morality or other crucial things during work or study. To be more specific, not only  grades or performance are vital, the process or methods done by others can also be beneficial for the younger generation to learn. Furthermore, excessive pressure on work or study may alleviate the productivity rather than increase the efficiency. According to a study from the United Nation in 2020, productivity may reduce 30% when people are under intense pressure for a week, especially young adults who are studying in school or just starting their career. Therefore, peer pressure in work or school may increase the burden of adolescents and fall to meet its initial goal.

For the reasons mentioned above, it seems to me that the younger generation are more likely to be successful in their work or school if they can study or work in the environment without over competitiveness from each other.
