It is a widely acknowledged that social media influencers have played a significant role in modern society. Although some individuals think that those online celebrities might have some negative effects, I believe they can bring many positive benefits(and this essay will discuss my reasons for this stance and provide examples to support my opinion, leading to a reasoned conclusion.).

On the one hand, some influence(r) might lead to negative impact(such as spreading unrealistic lifestyle), especially on young people. Those online celebrities promote unrealistic lifestyles on the social media, such as sharing luxury items or expensive vacations. Those actions cause teenagers to blindly follow this materialistic lifestyle and compare themselves with other people, even(eventually) becoming lack of(less) self- confident. (Concrete example: which influencer/what he did/what’s the outcome) Furthermore, some followers may spend a ton of time and money trying to imitate influencers. It results in those people be trapped in financial pressure by overconsumption and unnecessary spending. Therefore, critics argue that online celebrities sometimes encourage consumerism and unrealistic standards of living.

On the other hand, social media influence can spread useful information and encourage people to pursue a better version of themselves. Many influence(r)s share content related to fitness, education, or mental health, which helps people to enhance their life. For example, people can learn the fitness tips to inspire their interested in exercise and cultivate regular habits to maintain their physical health. In addition, some online celebrities also use their popularity to raise the environmental or social issues. They cooperate with international environmental organization to encourage people to protect the environment. As a result, online influences motivate people to make positive changes in their daily lives.

In conclusion, although social media influences may inspire materialistic and excessive spending for young generation, I still believe their positive effect can motivate individuals to enhance themselves and develop healthier lifestyles.
