Undoubtely, peer pressure plays a significant role in shaping young people’s behavior and decisions. Whereas some people look upon peer pressure as the negative influence, others refer to(regard) this as a powerful force for motivation. As for my perspective, I am in favor of the latter, and the reasons will be elaborated on thoroughly as follows(thoroughly in the following paragraph).
An array of causes may lead to the reason why peer pressure seems to negatively impact young people. To begin with, due to their desire for social acceptance, many teenagers might take actions but to against their personal meets and values(that actually aren’t their personal expectation or value). Take me as an example.(,) In high school, I was passionated in(about) music, but many of my classmates aimed for subjects like engineering or business, in the end, I chose a different path. This decision made me realize that peer influence could override personal interests and lead to choices that don’t truly reflect one’s values. Moreover, peer pressure will lead to stressed, anxiety and concerned.(stress and anxiety often results from peer pressure) In order words, these condition may affects young people’s mental and emotional development.
On the other hand, as far as I am concerned, peer pressure may truly bring more benefits to individuals and societies. Firstly, it encourages healthy competition among peers and that motivating(motivate) individuals to push them to reach their limits and strive for personal goals. According to a study from Oxford University, students surrounded by outstanding peers tend to adopt more disciplined habits and set higher goals for themselves. Secondly, peer pressure could cultivate young people’s social abilities and adaptability. To put it in another way, they could learn to adjust their behaviors to interact with others, solve with conflict resslution, in order to practice these skills in advance before entering the job market.(personal experience)
In conclusion, based on the aforementioned, I am firmly convinced that peer pressure can genuinely usher in more merits due to the fact that more competition inspires more motivation, and develop their own adjustability amid young individuals.
